Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists' Spring Conference 2006, Liverpool
Liverpool's Britannia Adelphi hotel was a superb venue for the AVA Spring conference. The hotel's conference package was outstanding; all the initial details being arranged for us, effortlessly, by The Mersey Partnership, who also later arranged for an on-line hotel room booking service. The hotel's conference and banqueting team (especially Kevin, Barbara and Eileen), were extremely friendly and accommodating throughout both the lead up to the conference and the conference itself.
All the delegates were thrilled with the history and architectural beauty of the hotel, many commenting 'Thank goodness we're not in another "concrete box"'. The hotel staff members were also incredibly friendly and helpful, with nothing being too much trouble, even when we had a rush of last-minute bookings and changed the number for the formal dinner only a few hours earlier!
The conference spanned three days, with a full programme of lectures each day, a welcome wine reception on the first evening, and a formal dinner and disco on the second evening. The audio-visual engineers (Jim and Matt), were on-site before, throughout and well after the end of the conference, to ensure that there were no glitches with anything technical. Their professionalism enabled the presentation of a very packed lecture programme without any problems whatsoever.
Two representatives from The Mersey Partnership (Sue and Jackie), came along during the first evening's wine reception, to help delegates decide where to then dine in Liverpool's vibrant city centre. They brought with them some very useful booklets with maps and the delegates enjoyed grouping-up to try out different restaurants - all of them were thrilled with their choices and a very good night was had by all!
The formal dinner was held in the hotel's spectacular banquet hall. With the vast chandeliers dimmed and the dancing flames from the candelabra on the tables, the room looked magical! The dinner itself was delicious and efficiently served by a huge team of waiters and waitresses. The transition from dinner to disco was seamless with a great mixture of music, including many requests, lasting well into the night.
If anyone is contemplating a conference venue in Liverpool, then please don't overlook the Adelphi... and let The Mersey Partnership do all the negotiating for you. You won't be disappointed!
